Game 2 of the Nationals and Giants NL Division Series tops my list as one of the most exhilarating sporting events I ever witnessed, even topping the historic 1980 Wimbledon Final, when Bjorn Borg, beat the entertaining and pugnacious John McEnroe, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-7 (16), 8-6.
I never moved from my chair since tuning the game in during the singing of God Bless America in the 7th inning.
I just can't believe how the Giants awoke from the dead in the 9th, down to their final out; tie it and then hold the Nats’ at bay for another 9 long innings, allowing them to go back to San Fran up 2-0, thanks to Brandon Belt's 18th inning majestic blast, that sailed deep into the night.
My heart still hasn't stopped pounding.
A Footnote: Interesting, how the Giants Yusmeiro Petit entering in the 12th and throwing six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven, to earn the win, will be remembered more than the Nat's remarkable performance tossed by Jordan Zimmermann, who retired 20 in a row before yielding a critical two out walk in the 9th.
One for the ages, indeed!
