- WP: Two years removed from a gaudy drinking-and-prostitution scandal during a presidential trip to Cartagena, Colombia, Secret Service agents charged with protecting the president have once again brought shame to the agency. In Amsterdam — a city of 1 million with an international reputation for partying, open drug use and legalized prostitution — three Secret Service stayed out drinking until about 2:30 a.m., despite knowing they were scheduled to report to work the next morning at 10 a.m., a clear violation of a ban on drinking in the 10 hours before an assignment. The embarrassing incident-sparked harsh criticism from lawmakers in Washington, including Sen. Ronald H. Johnson (R-Wis.) who said the agency has a “systemic” problem of rowdy and inappropriate behavior by its agents, who are sworn to protect the president and other senior officials from harm. http://goo.gl/3CvE1h
